“Hearing is Believing” nominated for a HUMANITAS Prize

Lorenzo DeStefano’s “Hearing is Believing” has been named a finalist for the 43rd Annual HUMANITAS Prize in the documentary category. The film documents the life and family of Rachel Flowers, the young composer and multi-instrumentalist. The HUMANITAS Prize was created to honor film and television writers whose work inspires compassion, hope and understanding in the human family. The honor is bestowed upon film and television writers whose work explores the human condition in a nuanced, meaningful way. Winners will be announced at the annual HUMANITAS Prize event on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The HUMANITAS Prize Documentary Category finalists are:

  • Cries from Syria Directed by Evgeny Afineevsky
  • Human Flow Directed by Ai Weiwei, Written by Chin-Chin Yap, Tim Finch & Boris Cheshirkov
  • Hearing is Believing Directed by Lorenzo DeStefano
  • One of Us Directed by Rachel Grady & Heidi Ewing

HUMANITAS exists to recognize, encourage and empower writers who teach us how to embrace our common humanity by way of their unique and powerful voices. These storytellers help us to consider our place in the world, and examine our own moral compasses. In this day and age, now more than ever, it is a noble mission.
