Meeting Greg Lake

greglake

Rachel met Greg Lake in May of 2012 when he performed at the Ventura Theater during his “Songs of a Lifetime” tour. Shortly after that, he arranged for Rachel to come to his show in La Quinta, California so that they could spend some quality time together. During that weekend trip, Rachel was privileged to not only enjoy an extended visit with Greg in his suite discussing music and ideas about her career, but she also got to play piano with Greg during his sound check. These photos were taken by Greg’s tour manager, Simon. This is the first time they have been shared in public.

Greg was not only a trusted advisor, but a true friend. He never hesitated to speak his mind and always had Rachel’s future and best interest at heart.

Be at rest, Greg.

  1. Greg Lake was a generous man.I am not at all surprised he helped Rachel.
We look forward to hearing Rachel at The Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
ELP also played the Symphony Hall and close by is The Town Hall which they played in their early days.
As Carl’s home city there will be many ELP fans there to welcome Rachel.

  2. I attended all three ELP concerts with the orchestra at Madison Square Garden in July 1977. Later that fall ELP toured without the orchestra and I caught them at New Haven in November sitting in the fifth row center. Caught them again the following March in Springfield MA sitting third row center.

I went though a heavy ELP period in my life back then along with Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and many other bands.

I am completely blown away by Rachel is all I can say. What awesome talent she has. All I’ve seen it what I’ve watched on YouTube.

Tarkus solo piano left me speechless.

    1. I too attended the ELP concert at the Weybosset Theater in Providence. Somehow, I thought it was 1975. I will never forget the live rendition of Tarkus. the theater was shaking.

  3. I watched and enjoyed Rachel’s ELP music videos on youtube, I’m surprised to see how talented she is. I had never seen/listened anyone play ELP’s music the way she does, she’s fantastic. I’ve enjoyed ELP since the 70’s and now it is good to see there is a musician with the same quality as ELP. Bravo Rachel!!!

  4. This is lovely. I’m so glad to see Greg was able to be a part of Rachel’s life and career. All the best from the UK

  5. The picture of Greg with his arm around Rachel brought a smile and happy tears to my eyes. I’m a 63 year old male. Thanks very kindly.
